Auto Akka and the Hot Seat
Translating Climate Research into Children’s Books: Auto Akka and the Hot Seat
How do we create stories on climate change that connect with younger audiences? In this session, we’ll dive into the making of Auto Akka and the Hot Seat, a bilingual children’s storybook exploring urban heat in Bengaluru through the eyes of auto rickshaw drivers.
We’ll share the journey from on-ground field research with drivers to narrative development and visual design, showing how research can step outside academic silos to engage a much broader public. The session will feature a brief presentation on the book development process, and a short reading of the book!
The session will also include an open ended discussion on tools for engagement.
Auto Akka & the Hot Seat was supported under the Bengaluru Sustainability Forum’s Small Grants Programme 2025. The event is being organised by BSF in collaboration with the Auto Akka & the Hot Seat project team.
This is an invite-only event.
