Who can become a member?
Everyone is welcome — students, researchers, designers, urbanists, educators, or anyone curious about Bengaluru’s past, present and future.
Can I visit without a membership?
Yes. Visitors are welcome to explore the space during open hours, though full access to resources, research tools and events is reserved for members. Reserve a visit to make the most of your time here.
Where is the library located?
Inside BLR Design Centre, on Church Street. You can find directions and hours on our Get In Touch page.
Membership
What types of memberships do you offer?
Three tiers: Student (₹500 – ₹2,000), Personal (₹1,200 – ₹5,000), and Group, for up to 5 members (₹7,500 – ₹15,000). See the full membership pricing above for details.
What does membership include?
Depending on the category, members receive full access to our curated collection, access to archives, maps and rare materials, invitations to member-only events, launches and walks, and opportunities for guided research support.
How long is a membership valid?
Memberships run for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year.
Is my membership refundable or transferable?
No. Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Using the Library
Can I take materials home?
No. The library is for on-site reading and research only — books, archives and maps must remain within the space.
Can I access digital resources?
Select collections and research tools are available digitally. Ask our team for access during your visit.
Can I bring my own books or devices?
Yes. Laptops, notebooks and personal reading materials are welcome, and Wi-Fi is available for members.
Can I reserve a table or reading slot?
Yes. Members can reserve reading time or worktables in advance — especially useful if you’re accessing special collections.
Group Memberships
What’s included in a group membership?
Group membership offers access for up to 5 registered users, including use of the reading and research space, guided orientations and group sessions, access to specialized collections and support, and invitations to institutional events and walkthroughs.
