TAAK Movie Screening and LCT Expert Talk

12 December

As part of the BLR Annual Edit, Mod Foundation and BLR Design Centre is happy to host a special screening of Taak, followed by an expert talk under the Last Call for Tomorrow (LCT) series in collaboration with Museum of Imagined Futures and Storiculture.

Taak is a compelling techno-noir film by Udit Khurana, a Berlinale Talents alumnus and the cinematographer of Netflix’s The Hunt for Veerappan. Set against the backdrop of a world where surveillance has become pervasive and almost invisible, the film follows Shalini — a former wrestler turned nightclub bouncer — whose life spirals into uncertainty with the introduction of wearable surveillance in her workplace. Featuring a powerful performance by Jyoti Dogra, recipient of the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress for this role, Taak exposes the fear, resistance, and quiet rebellion that surface when technology encroaches upon women’s autonomy and agency.

Produced through the Museum of Imagined Futures Impact Film Accelerator, Taak operates both as a cinematic narrative and an impact campaign — envisioning futures where technology upholds the fundamental right to privacy.

The screening will be followed by an LCT expert talk, a format that brings together leading voices to deliver sharp, 20-minute reflections on pressing questions at the intersection of technology, culture, and society. As the future continues to arrive ahead of our readiness, LCT creates a critical space for forward thinking and dialogue.

Join us for an evening of cinema and conversation as we explore the subtle but urgent implications of surveillance on personal freedom and social landscapes.
