Penciljam is a community that gets together on weekends to draw. We fill our sketchbooks with drawings of places, people, culture and heritage across India.

Sketchbooks are private, and intimate space for artists to think, experiment, and try new ways of designing or creating art. Sketchbook Saturday is a bi-monthly event that sees artists from the Penciljam group sharing their sketchbooks and creative process with the broader creative community.

Smitha is a practicing artist and art educator. She is a graduate of the College of Fine Art, CKP and is a co-founder of the Nabachika Foundation for the Citizen Arts, which has developed projects such as the Penciljam, a Citizen Art community and Workfromart, a platform for workplace art interventions. She is also a co-founder of the design studio Ideasutra, which provides services to organisations such as the World Bank, Myriad USA, Give2Asia, and AVPN.
Smitha loves sketching and has maintained sketchbooks for over two decades. Her favourite activity is being in nature with an ever-present sketchbook at hand.
