Padayaatre is a quiet, ongoing journey of Kannada poetry-reading of over eleven years. A committed group of Kannada literature lovers gather one Sunday every month for this non-performance, un-themed event, brought together by their love for reading and listening to poems, primarily, and sometimes fragments of prose, essays, and stories that have recently moved them. A small, committed circle has stayed together for several years, while others arrive, stay awhile and move on, too. What holds Padayaatre together is care: for Kannada literature, for attentive reading and for conversations without hurry. On February 1st, newcomers can expect an open, unpretentious space to listen, read and be moved by words that have happened to us through the stalwarts of Kannada literature.

ಪದಯಾತ್ರೆ ೧೧ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿ ತಿಂಗಳು ಒಂದು ಭಾನುವಾರ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿರುವ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಕವಿತೆಗಳ ಓದಿನ ಯಾತ್ರೆ. ಇದು ಯಾವುದೇ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದ ಹಂಗಿಲ್ಲದ, ವಿಷಯಾಧಾರಿತ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವೂ ಅಲ್ಲದ ಅನೌಪಚಾರಿಕ ಭೇಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಓದು. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾಡುವ ಕವಿತೆಗಳು, ಕಥೆಗಳ ತುಣುಕುಗಳು, ಗದ್ಯದ ಸಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಓದಿ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಆಲಿಸುವ ಒಂದು ಸಂವೇದನಾಶೀಲ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಪದಯಾತ್ರೆ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವೂ ತನ್ನದೇ ಲಯ ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸೋಜಿಗದ ಈ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವರು ಆಗಾಗ ಬಂದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪದಯಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿಟ್ಟಿರುವುದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಕಾಳಜಿ, ಮನನಾತ್ಮಕ ಓದು ಮತ್ತು ಆತುರವಿಲ್ಲದ ಸಂವಾದ. ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 1ರಂದು ಹೊಸಬರು ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸರಳ, ಮುಕ್ತ ವಾತಾವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿತೆ ಕೇಳಲು ಬನ್ನಿ, ಪದಯಾತ್ರೆ ತಂಡ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ!
