KAVADI – Film Screening
Kavadi, a 2026 Owletter production, is a 24-minute documentary that explores the enduring power of faith, community, and spiritual devotion. Set in the lush, remote landscapes of Kodagu, Karnataka, the film offers an intimate glimpse into the annual celebrations at the 800-year-old Kavadi Bhagavathi Temple. Through evocative storytelling and striking cinematography, directors Sourabha Rao and Santosh Saligram, along with cinematographers Suveen Poojary and Rakesh Kote, bring to life the cultural depth and traditions of the Kodava people. The film stands as both a visual and emotional tribute to a living heritage, made possible through the generous support of Mr. Bipin Bidappa and the Ammatthi Nad community.
This special screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the filmmakers and contributors—Sourabha Rao, Bipin Biddappa, Suveen Poojary, and Rakesh Kote—moderated by Nitya Satheesh, offering deeper insights into the making of the film and the stories behind it.
