SUMMARY:Homo Philosophicus: Everyday philosophy and ethics in the age of AI
DESCRIPTION:A public conversation with Sundar Sarukkai about his latest book\, Homo Philosophicus: Discovering the Spirit of Philosophy in Everyday Life\, moderated by Ram Bhat of Hornbill Academy. \nThe conversation will explore everyday philosophy and ethics: how we think\, make choices and live with one another at a time when AI is increasingly woven into ordinary life. Drawing on the book\, it will consider what philosophical thinking offers us in understanding these changes\, without assuming prior knowledge of philosophy or technology. \n\nPresented by Hornbill Academy\, this is a free public event and the format is a conversation followed by audience questions\, lasting 90 minutes. This also connects to the questions behind Hornbill Academy’s focus on the ethics of AI in its work\, while keeping the book and the public conversation at its centre. \n\nAbout the speakers: \nSundar Sarukkai\nSundar Sarukkai is a philosopher\, author and educator working primarily in the philosophy of the natural and social sciences. His books include The Social Life of Democracy\, the novels Following a Prayer and Water Days\, and his latest philosophy book\, Homo Philosophicus: Discovering the Spirit of Philosophy in Everyday Life. \nRam Bhat\nRam Bhat is a co-founder of Hornbill Academy and holds a PhD in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science. SUMMARY:Together 4 Change by VOICE-4
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 edition\, Shades of Childhood\, is built around a central idea: the childhood we experience shapes the adult we become. The confidence to speak\, the courage to dream\, the ability to trust\, lead\, build relationships and navigate the world are rooted in experiences that begin early in life.  Rather than presenting information about girls’ lives\, the evening is designed as an immersive journey that invites guests to first reconnect with their own childhoods through play\, nostalgia\, reflection and conversation. \nThe space is curated as a VOICE classroom\, with “zones” divided for guests to experience different aspects of a classroom. \n\nMela Zone\nGames & Conversation Zones\nPanel Discussion\nRound table conversations\n\nAbout Voice4: \nVOICE-4 (For VOICE 4 Girls\, registered under the Indian Trusts Act\, 1882) is an evolving organisation dedicated to creating gender transformative safe spaces for empowering adolescents\, women and youth\, while driving systemic change through innovative programmes and advocacy. \nIn over a decade of our work\, we have had the privilege of impacting over 3\,00\,000 lives through our programmes. Our unique girl-4-girl movement has enabled us in strengthening the voices of adolescent girls across India. \nThis is a closed meeting for members only.

SUMMARY:Miracle in Antarctica – The Forgotten Story of Dakshin Gangotri
DESCRIPTION:India’s unmatched triumph retold by its champions \nIn December 1983\, Dr. Harsh Kumar Gupta\, a geophysicist and seismologist and now a Padma Shri recipient\, is sent to Antarctica to lead a mission then thought impossible: build Dakshin Gangotri–India’s first scientific base-station there–before the end of the Antarctic summer\, a fleeting timeframe of barely 60 days. To achieve it would be to set a world record. But time is not his only nemesis. Battered by a blizzard and a helicopter crash\, will one man’s leadership and the team’s grit prevail over their frostbitten fingers\, before the pack ice moves in to leave them doomed?\n \nSantosh Saligram: Filmmaker\, Writer\, Photographer\, Editor and Creative\nSantosh Saligram is a filmmaker\, writer\, photographer\, editor and creative from Bengaluru. Passionate about storytelling in every form\, he revels in revealing worlds through both visuals and words. A diversely skilled raconteur\, Santosh loves to take on challenging subjects that are high in impact on social consciousness. Greatly concerned with story structure\, meaning and messaging without falling into sensationalism\, oversimplification or homiletics\, he considers film a medium to “unravel the mind of another on the conveyor belt of feeling”. Ever an aspirant of capturing and conveying the emotional core of a narrative\, he says his effort is to use film as a tongue on which voices other than his own may speak louder than himself.\n \nSourabha Rao: Writer\, Poet\, Filmmaker \nSourabha Rao is a bilingual writer\, filmmaker\, poet\, translator and former freelance journalist\, with literary proficiency in English and Kannada. She deeply cares about crafting stories primarily on nature and wildlife\, human-wildlife interactions\, climate change mitigation\, social issues\, heritage and art. She storytells with an earnest attempt to engage and seek to inspire meaningful\, positive change. She has written op-eds and photostories for leading Kannada and English newspapers\, and has collaborated with filmmakers in wildlife- and water-conservation. Rao is now exploring stories at the intersection of humans and wildlife in the hinterlands of India. \nSuraj Sumanth: Animation Artist \nSuraj Sumanth is a filmmaker\, post-production lead and creative operations strategist with over 13 years of experience across film\, brand and digital production. Trained in Film Production at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montréal\, he combines a deep technical background in cinematography\, editing\, and workflow architecture with systems-driven leadership. Currently serving as Lead of Post Production and Associate Producer at LastBench Studio in Bengaluru\, Suraj specializes in building scalable digital infrastructure\, optimizing post-production pipelines\, and overseeing craft-forward storytelling for major brands and social impact organizations. \nRSVP Here.
