DESCRIPTION:The Author of the Month Series is envisioned as a year-long curatorial initiative at BLR Reads – Library and Archive\, strengthening its role as a shared cultural and civic space. Building on BLR Reads’ ethos of reading beyond books\, the series will invite one author each month for an in-depth book discussion\, situating literature within wider conversations on the city\, history\, design\, culture\, and everyday life.\n\nThe initiative aims to deepen reader engagement\, foster sustained community participation\, and build meaningful collaborations with authors\, publishers\, academic institutions\, and cultural organizations. Each session will be accompanied by curated reading lists and\, where relevant\, allied activities such as talks\, walks\, or exhibitions.\n\nThe edition will centre on ‘The Making of a Campus: IIM Bangalore’ by Kiran Keswani\, featuring a conversation between Kiran and author Usha K R. Through the book\, Kiran traces the formation of the campus\, from the people who were there from the very start to the intentionality that went into building each wall\, garden\, and classroom.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \nAuthor of the Month – Kiran Keswani \n \n \n\n\n\nKiran Keswani is Co-founder\, Everyday City Lab\, an urban design lab that focuses on the everyday life of the city. She is the author of the book: The Making of a Campus: IIM Bangalore. She has had a design practice for over 20 years. She trained with the architect Balkrishna Doshi and holds a PhD in urban design. She has taught urban design studios at CEPT University\, Ahmedabad. She is a recipient of the Earthwatch Europe grant for research related to nature in the city.  \n\nUsha K R is a writer and novelist. Her novels have been listed for several awards including the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize\, the Man Asia\, and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. A Girl and a River won the Vodafone Crossword Award\, 2007. Usha has been associated with the journal IIMB Management Review since she joined IIM Bangalore in 1996 and was its Managing Editor (Editorial Office) from 2010 to March 2024.
