SUMMARY:Lost and Found: Figuring Archives and Piecing Nawabi Lucknow Together
DESCRIPTION:How can we read a city when parts of its built fabric have disappeared\, and its history survives through partial\, contradictory\, and often biased records? \nDrawing from the book\, A Queer Reading of Nawabi Architecture and the Colonial Archive: Lucknow Queerscapes\, this session explores methods of working with maps\, photographs\, paintings\, written accounts\, and surviving architectural traces to understand and reconstruct lost urban spaces in Lucknow. \nThe session will focus on two precincts: Machhi Bhavan and Qaiserbagh. Through these cases\, we will discuss how archival materials produced at different moments and for different purposes can be placed alongside one another\, reoriented\, superimposed\, and read against the grain to recover obscured spatial relationships and histories. \nThe event will combine short presentations with participatory exercises. Maps of the precincts will be projected onto the floor\, and members of the audience will be invited to locate themselves within them and connect archival images to particular positions and viewpoints. Corresponding photographs\, paintings\, and other visual fragments will be shown on the wall projection. Through this movement between map\, image\, text\, and reconstruction\, the audience will engage with the archive as a field of clues\, contradictions\, and possibilities through which the city can be read anew. \nAbout the Authors\nSonal Mithal (she/her) is an architect\, artist\, and educator. She is co-founder of research and conservation studio\, People for Heritage Concern. She serves as Chair of the Masters in Conservation and Regeneration program at CEPT University. Her practice\, teaching\, and writing transects architecture\, landscape\, queer studies\, history\, and conservation. She is invested in research-based artistic practice informed by systematic archival inquiry\, political critiques\, and design environments integrating contemporary ecological factors. \nArul Paul (he/they) is an architectural historian and educator. He is Associate Professor at the Nitte Institute of Architecture\, Mangalore\, and a Doctoral Candidate in Art\, Design and Transdisciplinary Studies at Srishti Manipal Institute of Art\, Design and Technology. His research and teaching explore the intersections of architecture\, urbanism\, queer studies\, media\, archives\, and cultural memory. \nRSVP Here

Named after a poem by Arvind Krishna Mehrotra\, whose work many of us cherish\, the series has always been an open\, unthemed space for attentive listening and inspired reading. \nThe community is thrilled to bring Cluster Fig into a physical setting at the BLR Design Centre and this in-person edition is dedicated to the luminous\, incisive poetry of Mary Oliver. \nMary Oliver’s radiant poetry — from a poet who transformed attention into an everyday ethical practice throughout her life — possesses such grace that truly noticing a heron lifting from a marsh\, a blade of grass\, a dog or a solitary walk through the woods forces us\, rightfully\, to confront the essential questions of being alive. Oliver’s poems are deceptively simple\, yet they dismantle our certainties\, leading us toward humility\, wonder and a fierce love for the living world. In an age built to reward distraction\, her poetry asks us to patiently look longer\, listen more carefully and live more deliberately. We invite you to spend a Sunday afternoon immersed in some of Oliver’s unforgettable poems.\n\nAll poetry-lovers are welcome!\n\n\nThis is a ticketed event.\nIndividual Entry fee: 400/-\n\n\nRSVP Here.\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:SCALE 101
DESCRIPTION:Scale 101 | Learning session\nA lot of organizations say they want to scale or need to scale. Do they? \nScale is a hot topic that C4EC has been bringing into different rooms — with people who have been in the space for 25 years and those who started a couple of years ago; with those who dream of impacting the nation and those who question scale as a concept and think small is beautiful. \nBut what is scale? Why scale? Who should scale? \nJoin us for Scale 101 as we unpack one of the most common aspirations — and assumptions — in social change. \nAbout Think Collective \nThink Collective is a C4EC-based initiative that brings together social development practitioners to explore and reflect on the ideas outlined in the Think books. It’s a community for thinkers and doers\, for the curious minds and those questioning the existing status quo\, each in their own domain.  \nRSVP Here.

Coming from a non-art background\, he developed his artistic practice through years of sketching from life\, using drawing as a way to better understand architecture\, public spaces\, and the character of everyday environments. \nWorking primarily with watercolor and ink\, he captures urban scenes\, heritage structures\, and overlooked details encountered during his travels and daily life. His sketches balance loose washes with deliberate linework\, focusing less on literal representation and more on conveying atmosphere\, memory\, and a sense of place. \nThrough his work\, familiar locations become visual records of observation—moments of attention that celebrate the beauty and identity of the built environment. \nYou can find Sumit on Instagram here. \n\nRSVP here!

SUMMARY:The Bengaluru Climate Party
DESCRIPTION:The Climate Party in collaboration with Mod Foundation presents the 14th edition of the Bengaluru Climate Party with a focus on Hidden Water Systems: Walking the line between History and Innovation \nIt’s almost summertime in Bengaluru…the time when the city makes it to the news every year for its water crisis. As we continue to face recurring water challenges in the city\, this session shifts the focus from crisis to understanding\, unpacking how historical systems\, governance and innovation shape the way water flows through the city today. Through Walk on Bengaluru\, an immersive\, research-based experience curated by MOD Foundation\, participants will engage with large-scale floor maps\, trace the transition from tank systems to modern supply networks and build a deeper spatial understanding of the city’s waterscapes. \nThe session also brings together two perspectives through a dialogue on systems and solutions. Pavan Srinath\, managing partner of WELL Labs\, reflects on policy shifts and climate strategies shaping a more resilient Bengaluru\, while Vikas Brahmavar\, co-founder of Boson Whitewater\, shares on-ground innovations in wastewater recovery and circular water systems. Together\, the session offers a data-backed\, multi-layered view into the city’s invisible water infrastructure inviting participants to see Bengaluru through a new lens. \nRSVP Here! \n

SUMMARY:Walk on Bangalore - From Tanks to Taps
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Building a Resilient Bengaluru project\, supported by Bengaluru Sustainability Forum\, we’re bringing back our interactive floor activity exploring the city’s evolving relationship with water. Get ready to let your imagination fly! \nWhy is Bangalore—unlike most major cities around the world—not built near a perennial source of water? How has this geographical reality shaped the evolution of its infrastructure\, culture\, and people’s everyday relationship with water? \nWalk on Bangalore: Between Tanks and Taps is an interactive research-based session by the Mod Foundation that explores the city’s unique and evolving relationship with water. From its natural topography and historic manmade tank systems to the arrival of piped water and rapid urban expansion\, this experience unpacks how the city’s lifeline has shifted over time. \nToday\, Bangalore faces mounting water crises—frequent shortages\, over-extraction of groundwater\, and a fragile dependence on distant sources. We believe the key to understanding and overcoming these challenges lies in looking back: in learning how we got here\, what we’ve gained\, and what we’ve lost along the way. \nWhat to Expect:\n\nImmersive Floor Maps that let you trace the city’s waterscapes\nEngaging Questions designed to prompt reflection and dialogue\nInteractive Storytelling on how our connection to water has changed—and continues to evolve\nInsights into urban systems\, growth patterns\, and the politics of water access\n\nThis isn’t just a walk-through history—it’s a step into the living\, breathing urban story of Bangalore’s water. \nJoin us to reimagine the city through its most vital resource. \nRSVP Here!

\nRSVP here
