DESCRIPTION:BLR Design Centre in collaboration with Penciljam community presents “Sketchbook Saturday”. \nPenciljam is a community that gets together on weekends to draw. We fill our sketchbooks with drawings of places\, people\, culture and heritage across India. Sketchbooks are private\, and intimate space for artists to think\, experiment\, and try new ways of designing or creating art. Sketchbook Saturday is a bi-monthly event that sees artists from the Penciljam group sharing their sketchbooks and creative process with the broader creative community. \nAbout Artist – Shreeya Sudhinndra \nShrreeya is a Bangalore-based 2D animator and motion graphics artist. She completed her BFA at Srishti Institute of Art\, Design and Technology and a post graduation in Classical Animation from Vancouver Film School. She is deeply passionate about storytelling and finds joy in mark-making and the simple act of creating\, often exploring art across different forms and mediums. SUMMARY:Urban Heat Lab
DESCRIPTION:With the advent of the Indian summer and globally rising heat levels\, it is critical for us to develop a deeper understanding of urban heat not only as a systemic issue but as a lived experience. Through this workshop\, we will introduce the different aspects of urban heat through a series of activities. By discussing how heat can affect social life\, health\, livelihoods\, and community well-being\, we aim to bridge the data gap. \nWith an understanding of issues rooted in reality\, we will try to push the bounds of our imagination and creativity. The aim is not to solve the problem but recognise issues and think creatively and empathetically. Urban Heat Lab is a half day workshop that uses art-based activities and material mediums to decode and solve for heat stress impacts on the community. \nRSVP Here.

SUMMARY:Embodying Water: The Lifetide Water Festival
DESCRIPTION:To be water is to be agile\, to embody potential and possibilities. We invite you all to come\, engage\, explore\, feel what it means to connect with water through our bodies\, and artistic responses such as movement\, play\, materials/objects around us\, sound\, clay\, and animation.  \nWe bring multiple explorations/experiences as a conscious attempt to rest with\, retrace\, admire\, become\, and express water. \nThe first workshop of the day\, Weaving with Water-selves\, will be facilitated by Kiran Dayal\, an artist\, social practitioner and educator. In this workshop\, collage\, theatre\, and body movement will be used to engage with water. This workshop takes place from 11:00AM to 2:00PM.  \nThe second workshop of the day\, Stepping into the Same Water Twice\, will be facilitated by artist\, educator\, and healer Deepak Sharma. The workshop will consist of animation\, art-making\, and a screening. This workshop takes place from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.  \nThese events are part of the Lifetide Water Festival. Lifetide is a creative habitat for learners and practitioners with various abilities to discuss actionable ideas that support children in developing skills to protect\, preserve and conserve natural ecosystems. \nThrough biomimicry\, community-led stewardship\, and interdisciplinary engagement\, we activate movements toward water abundance — rooted in local knowledge and principles derived from nature itself. \nRSVP for either or both events here.
